HAWKEYE DEBUTS IN HIS OWN ONGOING SERIES FROM SUPERSTAR CREATIVE TEAM OF MATT FRACTION (“FEAR ITSELF”, “IMMORTAL IRON FIST”) and DAVID AJA (“IMMORTAL IRON FIST”)

Third Eye Faithful: you must get this comic. Trust me — even if you’re not a big superhero fan. Even if you’re not a big Hawkeye fan, just trust me: you will love it.
Every bit as trailblazing, and innovative as Mark Waid’s recent debut run of DAREDEVIL, the new HAWKEYE series is gorgeous, and a pure joy to read. The artwork of David Aja is amazing, and some of his best work to date, and Matt Fraction’s bringing some of his best storytelling since he began his run of INVINCIBLE IRON MAN.
This is seriously top notch Marvel Comics greatness, and we cannot get enough of it.
Fraction and Aja take a very cool, very sleek action-packed approach to Hawkeye, mixing the whole aspect of being a trained sniper, with the fantastic element of being an Avenger.
The way that they handle the marksmanship of Hawkeye, and they bring the world around him to life, is really a testament to just plain great comics. It’s so cool to see a character with such a ‘real world’ kind of skill being set against the context of a bigger-than-life superhero universe.
Damn, this comic is good! Both stylistically, and story-wise, HAWKEYE is going to be one of the best reads you’re going home with this week, Third Eye Faithful, and this debut issue shows nothing but promise for the rest of the run.
I could gush, and gush about it, but all I’ll say is that it takes one of the coolest and most under-used characters in the Marvel Universe, and gives him one of the best creative teams in comics. Fraction and Aja worked pure magic on IMMORTAL IRON FIST a few years ago (available in trade paperback if you haven’t read it yet — we HIGHLY recommend checking it out!), so it looks like lightning will strike twice with this new HAWKEYE series.
What’s it about? Hawkeye, in the wake of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN, and as we near closer to MARVEL NOW (I feel that Hawkeye and Captain Marvel have both been early bird MARVEL NOW releases that will play a bigger role in the main roll-out this Fall), Hawkeye finds himself being brought down into the seedy underbelly of the Marvel Univese, with ex-Young Avenger (and Hakweye replacement) Kate Bishop by his side.
This book is downright impressive, and if you like just plain great comics, we highly recommend hopping aboard.

The ANIMAL MAN / SWAMP thing crossover, “ROTWORLD”, begins in this Wednesday’s ANIMAL MAN & SWAMP THING! Get into these two amazing titles with this new series!
Featuring “BATMAN: COURT OF OWLS” writer SCOTT SNYDER!

The highly anticipated ANIMAL MAN and SWAMP THING crossover from JEFF LEMIRE and SCOTT SNYDER will be kicking off in a major way this Wednesday with the official PRELUDE TO ROTWORLD in ANIMAL MAN #12 and SWAMP THING #12.
Here it is, Third Eye Faithful, the final chapters of AVENGERS VS. X-MEN begin in this Wednesday’s AVX #9, and we couldn’t be more stoked, Third Eye Faithful.

A few years ago, DEADPOOL was everywhere, and there was some awesome DEADPOOL stuff, and then some not-so-awesome DEADPOOL stuff. Since then, things have quieted down a bit for the Merc with a Mouth, but let’s face it: he’s still awesome.

Image is dropping another new series this week that looks pretty damn cool as well, with HARVEST #1.
Picture this: Human traffickers. Rogue medical teams. Yakuza run organ mills and a six-year old drug fiend. Welcome to Dr. Benjamin Dane’s nightmare. His only way out? Bring down the man who set him up by reclaiming organs already placed in some very powerful people.
Folks, this is a story of stolen kidneys, double-crosses, and political intrigue. A serious case of medical grade revenge.
Give it a shot this Wednesday!

COMICS LEGEND NEAL ADAMS RETURNS TO MARVEL COMICS WITH THE FIRST X-MEN THIS WEDNESDAY, TELLING A TALE OF THE SECRET HISTORY OF THE X-MEN..
Before Xavier’s team even existed, Wolverine and Sabretooth worked together.. alongside some interesting team-mates!

The legendary artist and creator who brought us GIANT-SIZE X-MEN #1, and redefined what we knew about the X-Men back in the ’70s when he introduced the line-up consisting of COLOSSUS, STORM, WOLVERINE, BANSHEE, and more returns to Marvel with an X-Men story that is downright EPIC.
This is the secret history of the X-Men… before Xavier’s team even existed.
Yes, before Xavier formed his own X-Men, Wolverine, Sabretooth, and others worked alongside one another as a covert team of powerful mutants.
This one looks to be a blast, and we can’t wait to check it out.
Joining Neal Adams is the cult-favorite writer, CHRISTOS GAGE, who has done some incredible stuff with both AVENGERS ACADEMY, and his creator-owned Avatar Press series ABSOLUTION.

SUPERMAN ACTION COMICS: THE MEN OF STEEL HARDCOVER VOL.1 DELIVERS THE FIRST ARC OF GRANT MORRISON’S INCREDIBLE “NEW 52″ TAKE ON THE MAN OF STEEL!

Grant Morrison’s epic ACTION COMICS run gets it’s first arc collected into a slick deluxe hardcover from DC Comics this week, and folks, if you’ve been waiting for a must-read SUPERMAN story — this is it!
This hardcover collects issues 1-8 (for only $24.99, that’s a deal!), and provides one of the crucial foundation-building stories of the DC NEW 52.
Grant Morrison, the same man responsible for ALL-STAR SUPERMAN, BATMAN AND ROBIN, THE INVISIBLES, and much more, pairs up with superstar artist RAGS MORALES (IDENTITY CRISIS) to tell us of the Man of Steel’s earliest days starting out in Metropolis.
We’re shown a look at Superman as a brash, arrogant hot-head who has a strong sense of justice, and a strong will to see that it gets served.
I mean, in the first issue, he literally throws a crooked politician off a building, and catches him only seconds before he hits the ground; threatening to do this over and over again until he confesses to his crimes.
The reinvention and reimaginings of the various Superman friends and foes is also very awesome. Lex Luthor is freakin’ downright despicable, and it may be the best villain portrayal of the character yet. Metallo is also just a cool, and the twist that Morrison spins on all of these iconic characters is perfect.
This series is set a few years before the events of JUSTICE LEAGUE, and shows a rare glimpse not only at the formative years of SUPERMAN, but also the early beginnings of the DC NEW 52.
Highly recommended, snag yourself a copy this Wednesday at Third Eye!

HOWARD CHAYKIN RETURNS TO HIS CRIME NOIR ROOTS WITH HIS DARK AND DISTURBING CRIME NOIR, BLACK KISS IN BLACK KISS II #1

BLACK KISS is one of those classic, yet highly underrated comics of the ’80s and ’90s that is often talked about in the dark corners of comic history.
Much like Brat Pack, it’s the kind of subversive, and dark take on a genre that pulls the reader into it’s story, and gives you that sense of danger that comics packed a punch with back in the days of the EC Comics like VAULT OF HORROR, and CRIME SUSPENSE STORIES.
I was a big fan of the original BLACK KISS series, and when I saw that Chaykin was returning to the series with a brand new limited series from IMAGE COMICS, I couldn’t help but get pumped.
This is a dark, violent, and intriguing crime noir story that will pull you in, and not let go.
What’s it about? Sex, death, and the movies — what else really matters? Nearly twenty five years ago, Howard Chaykin brought the ’80s to a close, and comics to thje brink, with his landmark noir thriller, BLACK KISS. Now, after years of anticipation, he’s back with a new six-part mini-series that tells the story behind that legendary story.
There’s a lot to Black Kiss, and honestly, it’s better to just ask us about the jist of what it’s about, and the scoop on it. Folks, this is the kind of supernaturally-charged crime noir that pushes it to the limits, and will leave you on the edge of your seats.
Wanna get into the first series? We’ll have plenty copies of the original BLACK KISS hardcover on hand this week to get you caught up for the new series; or if you just want to jump straight into the new series, you can, as it’s a fresh story, and is new-reader friendly.

HIGHER EARTH #3 - One of the best sci-fi series in comics continues this Wednesday, delivering more multiple Earth awesomeness!
A must-read from SACRIFICE writer SAM HUMPHRIES

Sam Humphries’s new BOOM! series, HIGHER EARTH, has us hooked in a major way, Third Eye Faithful. This fantastic science fiction series brings a very cool, very Whedon by way of Blade Runner vibe to comics, and we’re loving EVERY freakin’ second of it.
Higher Earth is the story of a future where the human race keeps destroying it’s Earths, and has to seek out new, and better ones to replace the previous ones.
The problem? In their wake, a whole mess of lost and wasted Earths are left behind, and a class system begins to develop where only the most prestigious and elite are allowed on Higher Earth.
The story follows two adventurers, one who’s cut from the Han Solo kind of mold, and one who’s a very cool, very Martha Washington-kind of bad-ass, as they jump from world to world.
Imagine SLIDERS meets BLADE RUNNER with a dash of FIREFLY, and a whole lot of awesome, and that sums up the greatness that is HIGHER EARTH.
Wanna jump on board? We’ve got issues 1 & 2 in stock now to catch you up to this week’s #3.

BEASTS OF BURDEN: NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH ONE-SHOT DELIVERS MORE OF OUR FAVORITE OCCULT-INVESTIGATING GANG OF DOGS… AND CAT!
From MILK AND CHEESE writer EVAN DORKIN and SCARY GODMOTHER artist JILL THOMPSON
P.S — THIS COMIC IS AWESOME, READ IT!

We freakin’ love BEASTS OF BURDEN, Third Eye Faithful. Whenever a new BEASTS OF BURDEN thing comes out, we feel it’s our duty to shout it out, and turn a whole new crop of you onto the awesomeness that is this series.
This stand-alone one-shot is a fantastic new read featuring the four-legged, occult-investigating team that’re doing their best to protect their home, Burden Hill, from a chicken-stealing goblin, a frightful basilisk, and a strange lost herd of sheep.
We love the writing, and the personalities that Dorkin and Thompson provide to these characters, making them more likable and relatable than a lot of human characters.
Combine that with the almost Mike Mignola-esque level of detail and craft when putting together these occult mysteries.
Folks, do yourselves a favor, try something that’s both frightening, and funny, and snag a copy of BEASTS OF BURDEN: NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH this Wednesday.

JOE HILL RETURNS WITH THE CAPE 1969 #2 AS THE ORIGINS OF THE DARK ARTIFACT ARE REVEALED IN THIS KILLER PREQUEL TO LAST YEAR’S “THE CAPE”

Joe Hill blew our minds last year with THE CAPE, a story where we saw a down-on-his-luck 20-something transformed into a homicidal superhuman who did everything from dropping his girlfriend to her death to throwing a running chainsaw into the engine of a plane.
Now, he’s doing it all over again with this killer prequel to THE CAPE, showing us the origins of the dark artifact from the first series.
Shot down, imprisoned, beaten, tortured, his crew murdered — none of these things will compare to what Captain Chase will experience next. Watch as his sanity is tested and he struggles to keep his grip on reality.
Wanna jump on board? We’ve got both Joe Hill’s THE CAPE hardcover, collecting the original series, AND THE CAPE 1969 #1 in stock now to get you caught up to speed.

IMAGE CONTINUES ONE OF IT’S BIGGEST HITS OF 2012 WITH MIND THE GAP #3 THIS WEDNESDAY

Mind the Gap is one of our favorite new series of the year, and it’s got us on the edge of our seats waiting for more, with each and every issue.
The combination of Jim McCann’s stellar storytelling, and the amazing artwork of MORNING GLORIES cover artist Rodin Esquejo is downright awesome, and the tale they’re crafting is incredible.
So, what’s it about? Well, first off: if you’re a MORNING GLORIES fan, you will love this. Secondly: the story is pretty darn cool, it’s a very “LOST”-like kind of tale, about a young woman who is mysteriously assaulted on a subway platform, and everyone is a suspect.
She finds herself comatose, and is now existing in a purgatory-like state where coma patients go during their coma, and that’s where they remain until they wake up, or.. pass on.
In this week’s MIND THE GAP #3, lines are forming and fingers begin pointing as a clue to the identity of Elle’s attacker is found. Friends and families are strained, and a mysterious figure lurks in the shadows, ready to make a game-changing move. Meanwhile, Elle’s struggle to regain her memory finds her starting from the very first memory she has — and it’s a shocker.
Folks, this is just plain great comics, and we highly ecommend snagging it if you haven’t already.
We’ve got plenty of copies of issue 1 & 2 in stock and available now to catch you up to this week’s #3.

PETER PARKER SPIDER-MAN #156.1DELIVERS THE FIRST IN A SERIES OF NEW ONE-SHOT STORIES SHOWING NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN TALES FROM THE WEBSLINGER’S HISTORY
Celebrate 50 years of the Wallcrawler with these special one-shot stories telling brand new stories from past periods of Spider-Man’s existence.
It all kicks off with this week’s PETER PARKER SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN #156.1, which showcases the JOHN ROMITA JR era of Spidey from the late ’90s.
This run was a real blast, and I remember really enjoying those story arcs, so it’s cool to see them revisiting it in this one-shot.
Featuring classic Spidey writer ROGER STERN, this one’s a must-read.

THE HYPERNATURALS #2 FOLLOWS UP ON THE STELLAR FIRST ISSUE OF THE NEW CREATOR-OWNED BOOM! SERIES FROM “ANNIHILATION” & “THANOS IMPERATIVE” writers DAN ABNETT & ANDY LANNING
A must-read for fans of the big cosmic odyssey stuff that Abnett & Lanning have done on WAR OF KINGS, THANOS IMPERATIVE, and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

We loved all the killer cosmic stuff that Abnett & Lanning did on books like GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, ANNIHILATION, THANOS IMPERATIVE, and WAR OF KINGS, so when Boom! launched HYPERNATURALS last month, we knew we were in for a real treat.
What’s it about? It’s the far future; the human race has finally colonized the galaxy, preserving an era of prosperity that’s only possible because of the Hypernaturals.
They’re a celebrated, galaxy-wide superhero task force that keeps the peace. That is, until they all mysteriously vanish. Now as the galaxy teeters on the brink of chaos, it’s up to a group of retired and long-forgotten Hypernaturals — and their novice recruits — to save the galaxy from complete destruction.
Imagine Abnett & Lanning writing GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY without any rules whatsoever, and that sums up the awesomeness that is HYPERNATURALS!

DEADWORLD: WAR OF THE DEAD #1 DELIVERS A FRESH, AND GORE-PACKED TAKE ON THE ZOMBIE GENRE!

DEADWORLD is a long-time favorite of mine, featuring stand-alone stories set in a unique zombie apocalypse kind of world, and the creators behind it have been doing the zombie comic thing for quite some time now.
However, it’s been a while since they’ve done something recently, and this brand new weekly limited series is shaping up to be the perfect entry point for those of you who may have never read DEADWORLD before.
In DEADWORLD, the zombies have over run the Earth, and a small outpost, remnants of a twisted scientists’ scheme to defeat the plague is all that holds out against the army of King Zombie.
Their secret weapon are the Lepers — victims of a bizarre experiment that left them with dead flesh in breathing husks with skin that even zombies won’t touch.
We love the fascinating take on the living dead in DEADWORLD, as it’s a look at zombies that have some sort of sentience. Somewhere between CROSSED and the WALKING DEAD exists DEADWORLD, and for those of you who’re into the horror stuff, you’ll love this.
