BATMAN INCORPORATED #1 DEBUTS FROM GRANT MORRISON THIS WEDNESDAY, BRINGING THE WORLWIDE FRANCHISE OF BAT-MEN TO THE NEW 52

The world of BATMAN INCORPROATED that GRANT MORRISON has put together is one hell of a fascinating, and exciting place to be in terms of BATMAN, and we really cannot get enough of it.
Picking up after the events of last year’s BATMAN INCORPORATED (pre-NEW 52, now available in graphic novel at Third Eye), BATMAN INCORPORATED launches Batman and Robin into the NEW 52, as they continue to build a global presence of Dark Knight Crusaders, while trying to avoid the entanglements of the Court of Owls, and the numerous Talons that are roaming Gotham.
This series brings a very unique feel to the world of the DCU, as we see new and existing characters being recruited into Batman’s worldwide campaign against crime, and it’s this global effort to put a Batman in every country, that is what originally sparked the ire of the Court of Owls, and kicked off that amazing story arc that’s currently running.
Morrison brings all of the quirk, and post-modern Bat-weirdness that we came to love during his run of BATMAN AND ROBIN, and BATMAN INC, to the NEW 52, with the amazingly talented Chris Burnham handling art chores, and making this book look as sleek as it reads.
I mean, I think when you see a villain by the name of Goat-Boy in the first issue, you have a pretty good idea that you’re in for one hell of a bizarre, and wild read.
As huge Morrison fans (his work on BATMAN AND ROBIN, the BATMAN: RIP trilogy, THE INVISIBLES, WE 3 and more are still among our favorites), we’re pretty pumped to see where he plans to take the Caped Crusader and his new mission in BATMAN INCORPORATED.

JOE HILL’S THE CAPE HARDCOVER ARRIVES THIS WEDNESDAY, COLLECTING ONE OF THE BEST POST-MODERN 21st CENTURY ANTI-HERO STORIES WE’VE READ FROM THE WRITER OF “LOCKE & KEY”

Joe Hill’s THE CAPE is one of our favorite things we have read in quite some time, with it’s dark, mature take on what would happen if your average low-life got super-powers… and, how a real-life, genuine “super-villain” is born.
Written by LOCKE & KEY author, JOE HILL, who also happens to be the son of Stephen King (I guess good stories run in the family!), THE CAPE tells a story where every little boy dreams about putting on a cape and soaring up, up, and away.. but asks what if one day that dream were to come true? Eric was like every other eight-year old boy, until a tragic accident changed his life forever. The Cape explores the dark side of power, as the adult Eric — a confused and broken man — takes to the skies.. and sets out to exact a terrible vengeance on everyone who ever disappointed him.
Eric can’t hold a job, has a drug problem, treats his girlfriend poorly, and is just all around not a great dude, after a lifetime of being handed the short end of the stick. After being dumped, he finds his childhood cape.. and realizes he can fly again, and from there, starts a spiral into homicide, and madness that cannot be stopped.
We don’t want to ruin the initial surprise of how the first chapter concludes, but, folks, you will not be able to put this one down after reading that, TRUST US.
One of the best things we followed last year, if you haven’t read THE CAPE yet, snag the hardcover this Wednesday, and give it a shot. You’ll love it.

SECRET AVENGERS has been a must-read title since RICK REMENDER, of UNCANNY X-FORCE and VENOM, came on board as the regular series writer, bringing an otherworldly sense of cosmic adventure to the book in a big way.
This one continues the streak of awesomeness that has been going down in the AVENGERS VS X-MEN tie-ins, and folks, when I say I haven’t read a bad tie-in yet, I mean it. Marvel is ON POINT.

NIGHT OF THE OWLS EXPLODES IN ALL-STAR WESTERN #9 AND BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT #9 THIS WEDNESDAY, DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS STELLAR CROSSOVER SPINNING OUT OF SCOTT SNYDER’S BATMAN

We’ve been LOVING the NIGHT OF THE OWLS from DC this Summer, with the killer COURT OF OWLS storyline that began in Scott Snyder’s BATMAN title exploding across the DC NEW 52, this has been one of the best crossovers we’ve seen in ages.
Now, going forward into this week’s ALL-STAR WESTERN #9 and BATMAN DARK KNIGHT #9, we get two more incredible chapters of the NIGHT OF OWLS, both of which add crucial elements to the overall storyline.
I’m personally very stoked about the ALL STAR WESTERN tie-in, as the entire run of this series has been one of my favorite reads, with it’s unique look at Gotham City during the Old West, the formation of Arkham Asylum, and much more, we’ve been loving this book since issue #1.
Now, we’re stoked to say that you guys are going to get to see just how awesome a job of Gray, Palmiotti and Moritat have been doing with this book. It really is the definition of damn good comic book storytelling.
This issue of ALL STAR WESTERN gives a rare insight into the earliest days of the COURT OF OWLS, and their formation, during the year 1880… the year the Jonah Hex was operating out of Gotham as it’s most notorious bounty hunter.

Also dropping this week is the stellar tie-in to NIGHT OF THE OWLS that goes down in BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT #9.
This issue features UNDER THE RED HOOD writer JUDD WINICK as a special guest-writer, and of course, regular series artist, and comics legend, DAVID FINCH, on art.
Red Robin has returned to Gotham City, and when he does, he’s thrown into the thick of the NIGHT OF THE OWLS, as TALON specifically targets him for extermination.

HAUNT VOL.3 DELIVERS THE CONCLUSION TO ROBERT KIRKMAN (WALKING DEAD, THIEF OF THIEVES, INVINCIBLE) and GREG CAPULLO’S (SPAWN, BATMAN: THE COURT OF OWLS) RUN ON HAUNT!
A MUST-READ FOR FANS OF SPAWN, INVINCIBLE, AND CAPULLO’S ART ON THE NEW 52 FLAGSHIP BATMAN TITLE

The epic, yet short-lived run of HAUNT by Kirkman/Capullo concludes in this Wednesday’ HAUNT volume 3, and while it’s sad to see it end after only 18 issues, we gotta tell you: these 18 issues will go down as some of the best IMAGE comics of the last few years.
Featuring the writing of WALKING DEAD / INVINCIBLE / THIEF OF THIEVES creator ROBERT KIRKMAN, and the artwork of red-hot New 52 BATMAN artist (COURT OF OWLS) GREG CAPULLO, Haunt delivers a fantastic tale that delivers visceral, in-your-face, uber-violent superhero comics in the tradition of old school Spawn, Punisher and Venom. In other words, pure anti-hero badassery, but with a 21st century spin.
The story focuses on two brothers, one a less than perfect priest, the other a government agent, the men struggle to get along, rarely agreeing on anything.
An unexpected accident forces them to work together in ways they never thought possible, as one of the brother’s is killed in a weird ops experiment, and returns to “haunt” his brother, possessing his body, and wrapping it in an ectoplasmic shell.
Meanwhile, struggling with his own personal demons, the priest begrudgingly works alongside the spirit of his brother, to form HAUNT.
Now, vengeance is their’s, as they leave a trail of bodies in their wake, and look for the men who put them in this position.
Wanna jump on board? Try HAUNT vol.1 for only $9.99 this Wednesday.
For those of you who’re already into it, we know you’ll be stoked to grab vol.3 this Wednesday.
